What Google Measures

Google's Core Web Vitals evaluate three things: how fast content appears (LCP), how quickly the page responds to interaction (INP), and how stable the layout is while loading (CLS). A mobile score of 55/100 means the site was failing on most of these.

This doesn't just affect user experience — it directly affects search rankings. Google has used page speed as a ranking factor since 2018, and Core Web Vitals became a ranking signal in 2021.

The Patient's Experience

When someone is referred to an endodontist, the first thing they do is Google the practice. They're already nervous about a root canal. They need reassurance — fast.

A site whose content takes 18 seconds to appear on mobile doesn't provide reassurance. It creates doubt. "Is this a real practice? Is this site broken? Maybe I should look at someone else." The irony: the practice's reputation was earning trust that their website was immediately losing.

What We Changed

• Rebuilt on Jekyll — static HTML, no server-side processing, no database queries
• Optimized all images to modern formats (WebP) with responsive sizing
• Eliminated render-blocking resources — critical CSS inlined, everything else deferred
• Preserved all content and business truth — same doctors, same services, same phone numbers
